Hello hello! Okay I know I have been very remiss about my blogging!Sorry, but I have two great excuses. One, I am only a dog and two, I have hurt my leg (okay not my typing leg I agree but all the same...more about that later).

First of all may I thank so many of you who have so kindly been emailing in and commenting on my blog. It has been so much fun to hear from you and to know you are out there reading this. Do keep up the contact, as its wonderful to know that humans and animals can communicate on the internet like this. What an amazing age we live in!

Back to my leg. I was running in the daffodils (do you remember that first lovely burst of spring weather we had?), just minding my own business when my back leg suddenly gave out on me in a very surprising way. Not much perturbed as fortunately I have three others, I continued merrily on my way after some very bad rabbits I know who live in Waterwood and are always teasing me.

However when I returned home everyone seemed very upset about the leg, so I am getting as much mileage out of it as possible. Why not? They have taken me to the vet twice, given me some horrible ant-inflammatory pills which made me sick, and now they say I am going to have an operation to fix the patella on my knee. Now I'm not sure what an operation is so I'm hoping it will be fun, but I'm a little apprehensive as they give me those strange sympathetic looks whenever they talk about it and say "oooh poor Lily" in rather a silly way. So I will just have to hope, as usual, for the best I suppose. Nice vet...Anyway I will be sure to write in and report!

Until then, really three legs is all a person needs, and what with the rabbits and the weddings and the lovely house guests here so much of the time, I have been so busy (honestly its a good thing I'm not pregnant after all!).

Skimp is fine and sends his love. As usual he has been out all night so is now curled up asleep looking very 'Do Not Disturb' . I do wish he would wake up and come and play .

Oh dear  Very Bad News!  they are talking about Sarah leaving!  as in Going . . .Never coming back to work at Butley Priory . . .basically abandoning me after all these years!  she has been here since I was a puppy,  I shall miss her So much.  I am trying to be nonchalent and grown up about it, but she has been part of my life!! who will we get next I wonder ?????? they had better be animal friendly!

I hope you are well and enjoying this lovely time of year. I got completely lost in a forest of cow parsley last week, isn't it the best ever this year? The garden is looking amazing, I just run round and round smelling all the lilac and wisteria, and the Baxion rose which is tumbling all over the place...just lovely! The rest of the roses, lavender and lots more still to come!

What a lovely life I have! Best wishes to everyone and more soon.

Woof !

Spring News

Well . . . no, is the answer to the question I know you are all longing to ask !  I  (only slightly) regret to tell you I’m not having puppies after all.  Yes it was a fun idea, but there’s plenty of time, and I’m really not that bothered,  I’m still quite a puppy myself  actually .  Also with so many weddings in the air I am feeling that Trumpet and I should really get married first . . .I’m quite a traditionalist at heart.   I must sit down and talk to Sarah about it, book a day.  A summer wedding I think would be nice, marquee, pull out all the stops,  horse and carriage of course . .

Hasn’t it been COLD though!    Ive mostly been in front of the blow heater with the girls in the office or curled up on the sofa
Trumpet came down from London to stay again for a couple of weeks .It was lovely but exhausting! he is such a ‘boy’ and always wants to rush around outside and play ball games . .   And Skimp gets in a bit of a sulk

And then of course there was Valentines Day. I gave Skimp a rose!  I know he’s a cat but he is my  my best friend, and you can see how pleased he was by the smile on his Cheshire face!

So that’s about it in my world at Butley Priory,  it’s a wonderful life.  Sometimes I think of all those poor dogs running around on their own with nothing to eat in the streets of Brazil or somewhere (I saw them on the telly) and think how lucky I am!

I hope you had a good Christmas. Me? . .Well if I wasn’t a dog I would be blushing Mine was . . .er . . .rather exciting! My boyfriend who goes by the name of Trumpet came down from London. Suffice it to say that we have both grown up quite a lot since we met last year, and I do believe I might be feeling a little bit . .er . . . well, pregnant! Well Im not completely sure yet, but well we did have a nice time, and he is VERY handsome . . . .
I will let you know the developments. . . .!
Have a lovely January. My advice? Stay indoors, curled up in a circle as close to the Aga as you can get.
/see you next month . . .LL (lick lick)
